Lenovo’s first Windows phone.

Lenovo’s first Windows phone is a mid-range Japan-exclusive 5-incher

Microsoft needs all the hardware-producing help it can get to make the mobile iteration of its otherwise successful Windows 10 platform relevant in a world copiously dominated by two unstoppable forces of nature.
Unfortunately (for Redmond), you can count the number of household tech industry names actively supporting W10M on the fingers of one hand. There’s HPAcer, Xiaomi (to a certain extent), plus Lenovo now.
Yes, the PC giant and struggling Motorola parent is finally delivering on its 2014 promise, but only in Japan for the time being. Not even nationwide, with the aptly titled SoftBank 503LV exclusively headed for SoftBank, one of the three largest carriers in the “land of the rising sun.”
Stamped with both Lenovo and Windows logos on its glass-made back panel, the 503LV is no powerhouse, sitting closer to the NuAns Neo on the totem pole than the Lumia 950 or Elite X3.
Due out in October for an unspecified price, the 7.6mm-thin 5-incher sports HD screen resolution, an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB RAM (nice!), a 2,250 mAh battery (yuck!), as well as 8 and 5MP cameras. It naturally targets business consumers in a market where business often comes first, and maybe, just maybe the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary package will be offered out the box. Oh, and there’s also Continuum support.
